everyone has their own sort of taste when it comes to jewelry.
personally i love things that are subtle but unique!
i'm not the boldest of dressers, i wish i could be and i envy those girls who can rock awesome styles, but since i know that's not me, i try to show my personality through my jewelry.
when i was younger i collected tiffany jewelry because what young girl doesn't love tiffany's?
and of course i still love the little robin egg blue box,
but now i decided i want my jewelry to be less commercial and much more personal.

these are just a few examples of what would really catch my eye
when it comes to earrings. which ever since i got my ears pierced, have been
my favorite piece of jewelry!
i love it when people notice my silly studs or interesting earrings.
its so subtle, yet someone saw the playful aspect (:
just makes me happy.

whats in this look
hat - ralph lauren, shoes - mia,
shirt - rvca, skirt - top shop.

a little bit of height goes a long long way.
to me, nothing screams summer like a pair of espadrille wedges!

lately, everything has been changing rapidly.
my dog sunny, whom i've lived with for 8 years of my life is going to go live with my brother from now on, all the way in berkeley, ca - which is a 6-8 hour drive from los angeles.
in addition, i'm moving out of the house i've lived in for 20 years of my life to be in downtown la's arts district. which is both exciting and frightening for me.

i'm moving because of my career,
there's nothing left for me in orange county, which is where i've been living and commuting from everyday for the past three years. there are so many opportunities in los angeles that i miss out on because despite being neighboring counties, the insane traffic makes its worlds away at times.
so fingers cross that this is a smart move, and i won't be too home sick.

this outfit is very orange county.
its inspired by my hometown and background in the sunny county full of beautiful beaches.
this is something i would wear when i'm in laguna or newport walking amongst the art galleries or enjoying an ice cream on the sand.
this is a outfit that i would wear with all my childhood and adolescent friends whom spent hours upon hours with me growing up, having fun, and learning who we are together.
this outfit goes out to nostolgia,
this outfit is a tribute to the past, and a salut to the future.

this is a really casual outfit, i used to be a "true religions" only type of gal, but i've outgrown that gaudy look and so most of my jeans now are just levis or jeggings.
more recently, i decided i wanted to not be so boring in dressing
so i'm starting to buy pants/jeans that are printed or colored!
these pants are the best buy i've made all year long.

i thought I'd mix some of the ever trending lace feminine trend together with this chic givenchy-esque dress I bought from a little hole in the wall hip boutique in taiwan.
with the touch of combat boots, i thought it'd be fun to create a look that clashes fem with edgy.

OOTD | Maybe There's A Bit Of Me, Waiting For A Bit Of You
In my younger days, I was very bold when it came to "fashion". Although I can hardly count the silly outfits I wore during those days "fashion" anymore, I really do miss the confidence of my younger spirit. A good example, one that is rather embarrassing and in a way odd, is in middle school, I decided one day that I wanted to study and build a career in fashion. The problem was, I didn't always feel confident, and I knew at a young age that to survive in the fashion world you had to be confident, and so I decided to wear Tigger ears to school every day for a month. Because if I could pull that off without giving a shit about what people thought, I could do anything. It worked, after that I was unafraid to wear anything, however once high school rolled around that confidence seemed to disappear, and I slowly began to wear mostly neutrals.. But with fashion trends being so colorful lately, I decided, to hell with my shyness, I am working in the fashion industry, its time to bring back that confidence, and well, here's my go at bright bold pastel spring colors! Hope you enjoy.
So as a shorty, my jeans are always too long for me! & yes I could easily get them hemmed for a few dollars, or even do it myself on my sewing machine.. but I don't know I quite like the way rolled up jeans look. I know some people loathe the idea of it! What do you think about it?
Photo credits go out to my gorgeous best friend Jamie Sarah, she's a doll!
The camera doesn't do this cute top justice, but in case you can't tell, on it are little Poodles, made out of beading! It looks just like my malti-poo, Vinny, and so i had had had to splurge on this shirt!

Let The Groove Get In

4.24.2013

Being back from my three month off from school means getting back into the grind! That means I have resumed classes at FIDM in Downtown LA, and must you know, look at least decently presentable. This is a little outfit I threw together the other day for class, and I thought it was simple but fun, very matchy matchy & all that jazz.

Florals For Spring, How Original.

4.20.2013

I know it might still be cold for some of you out there, but here in Southern California the heat is here and its time to bring out all the tank tops and sundresses. I woke up feeling rather chipper that it finally was beginning to feel like spring, and so I had to pull out some florals. After dressing, I laughed to myself, if Miranda was here, she'd definitely mock my cliche choice, but hey it was sunny and beautiful and I loved sashaying around in this fun outfit! Hope you guys enjoy this simple spring inspired look.

[HAUL] Preppin' for my Bali Trip

3.15.2013

Hello Lovely Ladies & Sweet Gents!

Todays post is a "fashion" post, which is great considering I've been lacking those and been going "beauty" post crazy. However, this isn't a very trending post, but its a style I very much love and enjoy, especially being a Cali girl at heart. In a week, I'm going to be vacationing to Bali, Indonesia with my family and I can't wait! After we decided to go and we got everything ready, I realized I did not bring any of my summery clothes to Taiwan because well, its clearly still winter time. And I obviously can't wear my monotone winter wear and leather boots in paradise right? Luckily, my dilema was a an easy solver, the solution: go shopping! & Boy did I not mind :P It was only after I started shopping around the city in Taipei did I realize that its almost impossible to find a descent soCal style flip flop and a pretty bikini. I looked everywhere, and finally found a Roxy, and so I splurged a little... It seems silly to be spending so much money on an American brand, but for Bali, its definitely worth it. I also picked up a few summer essentials i.e. teeshirts and shorts at Zara! Hope you enjoy this haul (: xo

 1. Cowgirl-esque Straw Sun hat This is going to the perfect little accessory to protect my face from the strong sun! I'm so glad I found this one today, because a good reliable straw hat that looks good on is very hard to find, and by good reliable I mean it can't have silly holes around the brim that let in the sun we're trying to hide our beautiful faces from! Of course I'll still make sure to apply lots of SPF!! The sun rays are so strong especially with all the water and sand at the beach reflecting it onto your face.
2. (50% Off) Red Plaid Shorts These are a bit more wintery then summery but they were on sale so I had to get them. They're so cute, and I feel like I could really still wear them on a grungy-er outfit day!
3. Casual to Dressy Flip Flops I brought no summer shoes, and the shoes here in Taiwan aren't always my style, I like simple, pretty, and casual, but they like more gaudy, "cutesy" and girly shoes. So I had to get these versatile babies! They'll even go well with my flowy blue dress I bought for this trip on a separate shopping trip!
4. Poolside Flip Flops Of course a girl can never have to many shoes, and I can't really wear the ones above on the sand and at the pool side, that'd simply be too wearing on them and a waste, so I got this pair for that very purpose, plus I feel like they match my swim suit and bikini very well!
5. Floral Bikini with "Bra-like" Back Tie Omg, save the best for last. Even though they say a lot of people just go nude in Bali, that is so not my cup of tea, so I had to get a bikini! This is such an adorable bikini, although I must admit I really ought to lose a few pounds before I rock this baby, but sadly a week is too little time for that, luckily no one will know me in Bali. Anyways, the special part about this swim suit is the straps are like a tank top and the back just ties flat, its not stringy like normal bikinis which means it will stay on better. The only down side to that is it will probably give me a silly tan line! Thank God for fake tan lotion!

1. Tank-shirt I can't really describe this without saying it has a bunch of giberish on it, but hey its an adorable sleeveless tee shirt that goes down to about mid-thigh. Its so comfortable and soft and I felt like its a perfect beach side throw on - cover up thingy.
2. Elephant Tee With HUGE SIDES Basically this is one of those shirts that are wider then it is long and has a side that pretty much connect with the sleeves. I really love elephants, and this is such a cool shirt I had to get it for the Bali trip! And I plan on wearing this or the next shirt when I ride an elephant in Bali.
3. Believe It or Not Elephant Shirt This one is just a normal tee, but I found the colors and the elephant so fitting for Bali, again I LOVE ELEPHANTS.

Thank you so much for reading!
Hope you guys enjoyed seeing what I got!

I feel this shopping trip was definitely justified.

[Review] Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleansing Pads

3.09.2013

This product comes with 28 cleansing pads & cost around $6-8.

I've been using this product for well over a year now, I don't use it every day anymore, but it is definitely gentle enough to do so. Through my experience, it is definitely a magnificent product. After using it I really do find that my skin is great and most definitely clean and clarified. Now, since I have so many other products, I use this on special days, like when I want to do a spa day! :)

 Spa Day
1. Clean face with a make up removing cleanser
2. Exfoliate/Deep clean with Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Cleansing Pads
3. Apply a facial mask of choice
4. Tone, Apply Serum, & Moisturize

Something that is great about the product is that it very safe for sensitive skin. As mentioned, it is oil free, soap-free, hypoallergenic, and noncomedogenic. Glancing through the ingredients, I didn't see any ingredients that are rumored "bad chemicals" but I can't say I'm an expert either, so definitely still glance through to make sure there's nothing you're allergic to!

Experience
I don't have the most sensitive skin nor do I get blemishes often/have acne issues. However one of my best friends, who actually recommended this product for me, has really sensitive acne prone skin, and she loves this product so much. She found that her skin really improved with it, and that it really truly cleans the skin and unclogs her pores.

The cleansing pad has two sides to it. The one showed above is the gentle exfoliating scrub side. I like using this side around my nose, because that's where I find I have the most clogged pores, and also on my forehead, especially when I had bangs that transfered oils from my hair to my skin. I find that it really cleans deep into my pores and does not leave behind any soapy residue.

'

The soft side still has cleansing properties, it really gently cleans my skin and it even removes some make up pigments that my make up remover had missed. Additionally, I love the smell of the soap-free soap! It smells so fresh and clean! This side of the pad is gentle enough for even my eyes! I do use a minimal amount of strength though, just to be cautious of the delicate skin.

You can find this product at your local drugstores including Target, Walmart, Ulta, and etc.

Hope you guys found this review helpful!
xoxo,
Shannon Marie
